About the Article
In this piece, I trace my journey from architectural design to graphic scores, exploring how the urban realm and built structures can be heard, not just seen. Topics include form grammars, the tension between static timelines and musical time, and how visual structures may be translated into scores for improvisation.
I also reflect on how architectural forms and rules (inspired by Stiny, Escher, Mandelbrot) can become the underpinning logic of graphic notation. The article offers theoretical grounding for the Musicographics practice and shares early examples of how I’ve remapped architectural structures into musical frameworks.
